ABOUT THE ROLE FAR Labs is building FAR AI, a distributed inference network that turns idle GPU capacity into usable compute for developers, businesses, and AI products. Around this infrastructure, we build a wider ecosystem of products, payment tools, developer platforms, and internal systems that help prove and grow the network through real usage. We’re looking for Middle+/Senior Backend Developer to build and scale the core systems behind our gaming platform and live services. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will design architecture, implement features, and work on systems that directly impact hundreds of thousands of users. You’ll be working across distributed systems, real-time data, and high-load environments — in close collaboration with frontend, game, and DevOps teams. 03. WHO YOU ARE Backend Engineer with Strong Fundamentals You have solid experience building and maintaining scalable backend systems using Python and modern frameworks. Systems Thinker You understand distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and how to design for scalability, reliability, and performance. Execution-Focused You’re comfortable owning features end-to-end — from design to deployment and optimisation. Collaborative Builder You work well across teams and can align with frontend, game, and infrastructure engineers to deliver cohesive systems. Problem Solver You enjoy tackling complex technical challenges in high-load environments and finding practical solutions. 04. RESPONSIBILITIES Backend Development Design, build, and maintain scalable server-side applications using Python and FastAPI. Architecture & Systems Design Contribute to system architecture, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability. Data & Storage Design and optimise databases (SQL and NoSQL), ensuring efficiency and reliability. Integrations & APIs Develop and maintain integrations with internal services, external APIs, and microservices. Observability & Reliability Implement logging, monitoring, telemetry, and fault-tolerant systems (retries, error handling). Collaboration Work closely with frontend, game, and DevOps teams to ensure seamless system integration. Engineering Process Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning. 05. REQUIREMENTS 4+ years of backend development experience (Python). Strong experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks. Proficiency in at least one additional language (Go, Node.js/TypeScript, Java) is a plus. Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB). Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures. Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS). Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines. Strong understanding of RESTful API design. Experience working in high-load or real-time systems is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments. English level: Upper-Intermediate (B2+) or higher. 06.
